large clearing

Today in my studio I had my doubts concerning an artist in residency in Iran. I am really looking forward too work Iran. But I have my doubts about; nuclear weapons, Danish cartoons and an unstable political situation. At the same time I wish that there will be some changes this year.

At the moment I keep myself busy with "to slim" the quantity of stuff which I have. I think I am doing a great job. My cousin Bente is a good consumer and clothing goes indirectly to Tanzania, first my aunt Levina(she is from Tanzania) has to check them. Queensday is already planned I will sit on a carpet between stuff from my past and my memories. At night in my dreams I am for awhile teenage girl on
secondary school, it happens when I have thrown away, the day before, my math books in the paperbarge.

With my paintings I have other plans. My work must be seen, it would be worthless if
my paintings have been stored away for a year. To sell my paintings is hard, so I started to rent my work (after I had approached almost all CBK's in the Netherlands). This will run, as from January I have already three paintings in rent and still a couple arriving candidates. It is also a nice regulation, hiring is saving for a painting.

The first month of this year I started very enthusiastic
to regulate 'the things' for 2007. I had to stop myself other wise I had been overstrained by now : -) if so I could not have enjoyed to do 'the things' in advance. A good diversion came on my path, I was asked to assist at a wall painting at Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Rotterdam The Netherlands.
What
my attention has to day is especially painting and running. Nine April I am going to run the marathon of Rotterdam and that costs much time and energy. Three months I have to train 5 times a week, with a week average of 75km that means I have to eat good, take enough rests and go to bed early. In May I will start again with 2007. Nevertheless Saturday Paul and I run into JoHo and have our DO -, PACKAGE - and WHAT TO BUY list completed: -)

who remains

I do not have the possibility to return back as Desktop Publisher at Pogo Geluid when I leave for a year. Since 2003 I have been working two days a week as a Desktop Publisher to have an income. I can manage reasonable well of 730 euro a month. My spending pattern is not large and I do not need so much. I can travel because I had the possibility to save, that was years ago, and I have an economical lifestyle (what I do not have I do not spend also). My employer is not informed yet of my plans for next year. It seems that I will take therefore dismissal.

With my paintings I do not earn so much yet, but now and then I have a assignement such as making a teaching package, design a flyer, poster and anniversary calendar.

A next decision which I have to make concerns my house. I live in a small group a "woongroep" (“woongroepen”are co-housing projects: two or more people are living together in one house (at one adres)); two women Anda and I and two men Rien and Piet. Everyone has their own house, bedroom and toilet. I share the kitchen and bathroom with Anda, we live on 3rd floor and above us are living the men. We have therefore much space and I live very pleasantly. A difficult decision, but nevertheless I am thinking of leaving the group . In May I make this decision final, then Anda has still enough time to find a women who likes to live in a group.

That means that I start 2007 without part-time job (income) and house. Frightened..? Yes a little but also very exciting. It is just like money, I do not worry about little money, no work and no house, thats how I will start 2008 probably. More important is what there is now, what remains and what I think is of much more value.

Paul still remains : -)

xplore

Many countries which we will visit, also stand on the ' DAC ' list and qualify for the program Xplore. Not in all these countries already projects take place, it is also the question if it is wise to start a project at this moment in for example Iran or Pakistan? Also I doubt if we must maintain these countries in our planning, however there is still time enough to think about it. In India for example already projects appear and it could be an outcome for Xplore if I could visit these projects on behalf of Xplore. They are not able to visit all current projects themselves. It seems me very nice to visit some of these projects of Xplore, because during the conversation about the program I also got terrible enthusiastic about the main points and possibilities of Xplore. During 2006 I will participate in a training for organizations which want to work with Xplore and we will discus my further commitment in 2007. Possibly that I will join the selection commission of Xplore in 2006, and in this way also will be informed about the projects which I will visit in 2007 :-).
